While painting the mural a crowd of nearly 75 people gathered to watch.
This posed as a great opportunity to talk to the children about HIV
and distribute pamphlets on AIDS/HIV and condoms. Thanks to DKT a
not for profit organization in Ethiopia sponsored by the Americans
and Dutch, LIFESIGNS received informative pamphlets in the local language
and condoms to distribute.
Although a great idea, LIFESIGNS realized that a casual distribution
of HIV information was ineffective. Crowds of children gathered in
a frenzy to get free items. In the future, LIFESIGNS would like to
distribute information to youth in a more formal situation such as
a highschool meeting. |
