The Adwa group joined the Axum group to discuss AIDS/HIV and other
STDs. Together they could openly talk about the virus, stigmas and
address any questions. The Adwa group who were 15-16 year olds had
been trained on HIV in the highschool. They were already AIDS/HIV
leaders in their community. The Axum group who were 13-15 were also
AIDS/HIV leaders in their middle school. Together they exchanged facts
and opinions on the virus.
Because of the generation difference and change in values between
children and adults, it is important to have youth be able to learn
in an open environment which resembles their own behavior rather than
an older conservative generation whose views do not take into account
the change of times and the new diseases.
