LIFESIGNS is lead by art educators, Angie Eng and Simon Ransom. The project would not be possible without the dedication and hard work of its volunteer youth and community leaders. In addition LIFESIGNS' staff partner VisualAIDS acts as a representative on behalf of LIFESIGNS in America.
Director of the Project is Angie Eng, a professional artist
and art educator with 7 years experience in social work. She
graduated from University of California at Santa Barbara with
a Fine Arts degree. She relocated to New York City in 1993
to pursue her career in the arts. She is an acknowledged experimental
video performer and installation artist in the New York community.
She has received numerous grants and commissions for artists
working in technology and is represented by Post Media Network.
As an art educator, Angie Eng has developed arts programs
for the disabled, initiated a greeting card program with the
mentally ill in conjunction with God's Love We Deliver, received
commissions for murals with the public schools of New York
and taught children's art classes at PS40 and the Asian American
Art Center in downtown New York.
Co-director, Simon Ransom is a trained painter with extensive
experience working with youth in both his former home, England
and his current home in Ethiopia. In England he received numerous commissions to paint murals
in elementary schools. He relocated to Ethiopia 4
years ago, speaks the local dialect and has a close relationship
with the communities of Ethiopia. His family has a history of
assisting the African community with development projects
and has established the Desta Foundation to develop water-filtering
systems in Ethiopia.
