durkART

b.1960

Growing up, durkART always wanted to be around people having a good time. If he could turn back time he would love being in the late 70's, in the alternative dance bars in Chicago, Key West, San Francisco. That's where the people met. They came to have a good time, to laugh, to dance the night away. That positive energy - The music - The lights - The sense of community: He looks back on those days, his cares were few. It was, (or it seemed) to be a more peaceful time. That's his goal of his artwork, carefree, light, harmonious, music to the eyes, full of life creations. During those times there was also an undertone of sexual expressionism, which is also apparent in some of his artwork. He wants to explore, using dance music of that time, to splash canvas with happy colors, and see what emerges - "That manic energy" - that's what durkART is ALL about. He's been in several galleries in the Orlando area and has an international following. Pull up a chair check and explore his creations. Critiques, suggestions are always welcome.

durkART started taking art classes back in 2000 when he arrived with his partner to Orlando Florida USA from Chicago Illinois, realizing his life is all about life's daily struggle. Where the cost of living is going up and wages are stagnate. Healthcare cost continue to rise. To corporations, his life experience does not reflect his wages. He's just a body to run the show and they are constantly reigning in on benefits - to them, his shoes can be easily filled by someone who they don't have to pay a premium wage to. Cutbacks are always in order and no loyalty to their workers. And he was around when workers got their rewards - in a not so distant past. Corporations now run the government and elections are bought by the highest bidder and of course they have control of the media. The demise of the middle class, and the demise of unions. The struggle to work MORE than 40+ hours a week just to make in today's world, and some of his friends have to work two jobs. And again as profits of corporations rise, his pay is the same as it was back graduating from high school. Healthcare cost continue to rise, His bills aren't getting any smaller, gas isn't getting any cheaper. It's a struggle.... Back in 2000 He started taking art classes and today he still does. durkART - Artist for today's troubled times.
