Using photography, I artistically envision a fictional and fantastical world. A doomsday apocalypse has destroyed earth. Now humans must colonize a strange new world. Transported through time and space, they bring their traditions and customs with them. They create a neo-modern culture amid rugged lunar-like landscapes. I digitally placed subjects in their new setting. I combined different photographs (recycled from previous works) into black and white terrains. Anonymous subjects exhibiting varying personality traits and appearances engage the viewer. Some have funny shapes. Some come in different sizes. All have unique styles. There are touches of humor. They frolic on the beach. They hoist American flags. They play. By depicting the familiar, I strive to evoke the universal. I want viewers to envision their own differing scenarios and embark on an interactive "mind journey." By contemplating a brave new world, I want viewers to consider how personal and cultural identity is shaped, transformed and ever-evolving.
